Overnight stay in a Mountain Refuge in South Tyrol
A mountain experience
among the cows, eagles and alpacas
Yearning for peace and tranquillity? Feel like experiencing raw nature, under the starry night-time sky? Your dream can turn into reality!
When you spend a night or two at our Hirzerhütte refuge up at 1,983 m, you have the choice of a luxurious double-room, or a spacious chalet of your own. Leaving your luggage behind at the Alpenhof Lodge, you can reach the Hirzerhütte (which lies right on the E5 long-distance European Hiking Trail), in just 15 min via the Hirzer cable car and another 15 mins on foot. When Karl took over the hut from his father, he decided to transform it completely – and the old mountain hut became a renovated guesthouse, now in the hands of the fifth generation of the Hofer family.
When you get there, walk into the fields and visit the alpacas grazing in the meadows. Originally from South America, they have acclimatised perfectly to these mountains in South Tyrol. Marvel at the mesmerising sunsets, and bask in the night-time silence under the starry skies, punctuated only by the occasional ding-dong sounds of the cow bells. As nature reawakens the following morning, you’ll be greeted with a hearty Alpine breakfast. After your overnight stay at our mountain refuge, you’ll feel reinvigorated and in the right mood for new mountain adventures!
